My Curriculum Vitae:

1967/71: market research executive with Philips Electrical responsible for continuous and ad hoc market research projects for home entertainments systems

1972/88: I was employed by The Solicitors Law Stationery Society plc, which traded under the 'Oyez' name. For the first ten years or so, I was responsible for marketing across the group. With the appropriate director of each of the six or seven subsidiary companies (the number varied over the years), we would agree and implement a marketing plan to support the sales operation. This might include advertisements, mailings, newsletters, exhibitions (I was responsible for the Oyez stand at numerous Law Society conferences), press relations (producing press releases, cases studies and organizing 'events'), sponsorship (I worked on three major concert sponsorships for the Solicitors' Benevolent Association at the Festival Hall in London and Halle Hall in Manchester), leaflets and brochures. With the support of a small department, we would prepare all the work from initial designs to introducing the promotion to the sales force.

When the Law Society's rules started to change in 1983, I proposed that Oyez introduced a brochure design and production service for solicitors. I prepared a business plan, employed someone to take over my existing work and started the new venture. After about two years, Robert Maxwell bought Oyez and my work changed. I became a director of Oyez Services and I looked for new ventures to acquire or develop and became involved with alternative dispute resolution services, the presentation of complex evidence, expert witnesses and use of computers in law firms. I also managed several market research projects to identify new products, quantify the legal office products market and assess the level of satisfaction with Oyez's service

1988/90: with Clyde & Co, an international law firm based in the City specializing in maritime law, with its administrative office in Guildford (where I was based). I produced all their brochures, organized participation in exhibitions, managed the PR function and worked with a partner on the business plan and with the accountant on interpretation of management information. I visited their offices in Hong Kong and Dubai and produced brochures in several foreign languages

1990 to present: working independently but with a small support team, I have been instructed by over 200 law firms - of all types and sizes, from around the country and some from overseas. Most of my work has been related to the production of brochures and websites
